Santomo Resources Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President: Tomoichi Yamaguchi; hereinafter “Santomo”) participated in the ASEAN Energy Business Forum (AEBF) 2023, held in Bali, Indonesia from August 24 (Thu) to August 26 (Sat), 2023.
AEBF 2023 was convened alongside the 41st ASEAN Ministers on Energy Meeting. Santomo’s Manager, Ms. Rumi Hoshino, joined the biomass session as a panelist, engaging in discussions with the Director of Biomass at Indonesia’s Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources and other stakeholders on the potential of biomass across Indonesia and the wider ASEAN region.
In her presentation, Ms. Hoshino highlighted not only the domestic potential of biomass in Indonesia but also its broader role in meeting the growing energy demand across ASEAN. She emphasized the wide-ranging possibilities and expectations for biomass fuels to contribute to sustainable energy solutions.
Further discussions were held with stakeholders on the challenges of commercializing biomass and the pathways to overcome them.
Santomo, through its affiliated companies, already exports palm kernel shells (PKS) to Japan and is actively developing a diverse portfolio of biomass products, including rice husk pellets and biofuels derived from palm oil mill effluent.
Looking ahead, Santomo will continue to advance business development initiatives that contribute to the realization of a decarbonized society across Asia.
