~Aiming for stable green power supply in remote island regions~
Santomo Resources Corporation (Head office: Tokyo; President: Tomoichi Yamaguchi; hereinafter “Santomo”) has formed a consortium with Kyudenko Corporation (Head office: Fukuoka City, Fukuoka Prefecture; President: Hisafumi Sato, hereinafter “Kyudenko”) and PT Jababeka Morotai (Head office: Bekasi Regency, Indonesia; President Director: Basuri Tjahaja Purnama, hereinafter “Jababeka”) for a solar power IPP project on Morotai Island.
The transition from diesel to renewable energy generation is a key policy of Indonesia’s state-owned electricity company, PLN, with IPP projects expected to play a significant role in achieving this goal.
Morotai Island, including the Morotai Special Economic Zone (SEZ) owned and developed by Jababeka, is currently 100% dependent on diesel power. According to PLN’s National Electricity Supply Business Plan (RUPTL) for 2021–2030, a 10 MW solar power project is planned for implementation on the island.
Through this consortium, Jababeka will leverage the Morotai SEZ, while Kyudenko will introduce its Energy Management System (EMS) to enable the 24-hour supply of green electricity from solar power. Preparations are underway for the upcoming bid for the project.
Drawing on its extensive experience in renewable energy project development, Santomo will support the overall business development of the project and contribute to the realization of the consortium’s goals.
