Santomo Resources Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Tokyo; President: Tomoichi Yamaguchi; hereinafter “Santomo”) announces that its subsidiary, PT Santomo Green Power Management (Head Office: Jakarta; President: Shuntaro Yamaguchi; hereinafter “SGPM”), officially opened its first showroom on Sunday, April 9, 2023, in Makassar, the largest city in Eastern Indonesia. The showroom serves as a sales hub for electric motorbikes produced by PT Smoot Motor Indonesia (Head Office: Jakarta; President: Kevin Phang; hereinafter “Smoot”), with whom SGPM has a business partnership.
Indonesia’s electric motorbike market is experiencing remarkable growth. However, unlike gasoline motorbikes, there are still limited facilities offering regular after-sales services and spare parts replacement. The primary objective of opening this showroom is to establish a comprehensive 3S (Sales, Spare Parts, Service) flagship store, ensuring customers can use electric motorbikes with greater confidence and long-term reliability.
Motorbikes remain the dominant mode of transportation in Indonesia, and accelerating the transition to electrification is seen as a vital step toward achieving a decarbonized society. In Makassar, approximately 100 Smoot electric motorbikes are already in operation, supported by 39 battery swap stations installed mainly at Alfamart convenience stores.
By providing a reliable support system, SGPM aims to accelerate the adoption of affordable, fuel-efficient electric motorbikes and battery swap stations, contributing to the realization of a decarbonized society across Eastern Indonesia.
