~Contributing to decarbonization through the electrification of gasoline motorcycles~
Santomo Resources Corporation (Head office: Tokyo; President: Tomoichi Yamaguchi; hereinafter “Santomo”) has signed MOU (Memorandum of Understanding) with PT. GoTo Gojek Tokopedia (Head office: Jakarta; President Director: Kevin Aluwi; hereinafter “Gojek”) through Santomo’s Indonesian subsidiary, PT Santomo Resources Indonesia (Head office: Jakarta; President Director: Tomoichi Yamaguchi; hereinafter “SRI”). Following the agreement, a launch ceremony for the deployment of electric motorcycles by Gojek drivers was held.
As part of this trial, Santomo will provide 20 electric motorcycles free of charge to Gojek drivers, aiming to promote awareness of electric motorcycles while collaborating on the strategic development of Battery Swapping Station (BSS) locations.
This marks Gojek’s first adoption of electric motorcycles in the eastern Indonesia region.
At the launch ceremony, in addition to the signing of the MOU, a demonstration of 20 electric motorcycles in operation was conducted. Prior to the ceremony, a demonstration of the electric motorcycles was held at the residence of Indonesia’s former Vice President Jusuf Kalla in Makassar, where efforts to achieve a smart city utilizing electric motorcycles and batteries were explained.
On February 17 of this year, Santomo reached an exclusive agreement with Swap Energy to jointly operate a battery-swapping service in the eastern Indonesia region, and customer development is currently underway. The collaboration with Gojek drivers represents the first initiative under this agreement.
Santomo aims to capitalize on the growing demand for motorcycle electrification driven by decarbonization efforts, and by leveraging this new partnership with Gojek, Santomo seeks to further expand its customer base and contribute to the realization of a sustainable, green circular society, starting in Makassar City.
