~Toward the realization of a carbon-neutral society centered on eastern Indonesia~
Santomo Resources Corporation (Head office: Tokyo; President: Tomoichi Yamaguchi; hereinafter “Santomo”) has signed MOU (Memorandum of Understanding) with PT Hadji Kalla (Head office: Makassar, Indonesia; President Director: Solihin J. Kalla; hereinafter “Kalla Group”) through Santomo’s Indonesian subsidiary, PT Santomo Resources Indonesia (Head office: Jakarta; President Director: Tomoichi Yamaguchi; hereinafter “SRI”), to discuss the potential for joint investment in renewable energy projects.
The Japanese government has declared its goal to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050, and the Indonesian government by 2060, and both governments are promoting various policies to realize a circular society, including the expansion of renewable energy power plants and the active adoption of electric vehicles (EVs).
Santomo is actively involved in exporting biomass fuels, developing solar power projects, and establishing distributed power sources, aiming to contribute to a sustainable society through carbon-neutral initiatives.
Kalla Group has achieved remarkable growth by providing essential infrastructure such as automobiles, logistics, construction, real estate, and energy in a high-quality and timely manner.
Through this collaboration, Santomo will share its ongoing renewable energy project opportunities with Kalla Group, and by leveraging our combined experiences and the know-how, we will explore future partnerships to contribute to carbon neutrality in Indonesia, particularly in the Sulawesi region.
As a result, we plan to conduct detailed discussions on specific projects to realize future collaborations in renewable energy and work toward the early realization of a carbon-neutral society.
